HISTORY OF THE AIRCRAFT

Lockheed F-16C 86-0295 arrived at Eielson AFB on July 26, 2017 wearing black paint with
yellow markings but since it was going to be used as an Aggressor in RED FLAG-Alaska (RF-A)
17-3 taking place from July 27 until August 11, 2017 so the yellow was replaced with red. F-16
86-0295 joined Red Flag and continued to wear the all black scheme with red markings until it
went to the Eielson paint shop in late 2017 for the new forest green BDU (Battle Dress Uniform)
splinter scheme.

The reason this aircraft is painted like this is to mimic Russian aircraft
Paint schemes . As  Aggressors  these aircraft use soviet based tactics and strategy to prepare and train  new pilots in the US Airforce in the event of a future confrontation with Russian adversaries and Russian allies.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon was produced by General Dynamics who became Lockheed who then
merged with Martin Marietta to become Lockheed Martin. The F-16 entered service in January 20th 1974.
sustaining 9-g turns. The F-16 is relatively inexpensive to purchase and maintain so the U.S. and
25 other countries added it to their inventory. The Fighting Falcon is referred to by its pilots as
the “Viper” and will remain in USAF service until 2025.
